What meanings of care coexist in one village? What care is accessible — and to whom? Who receives it? Who provides it?

And do you even have time to think about care… …when your brain spins like a washing machine, carrying all the broken pieces of those around you?

Vinc and Victoria had the privilege to sit with these questions— and to receive four powerful short films from people who also took time to think through spaces of care.

FILMS:

🐮 Grazing Cow (by Hanna, CH 2025, 30 min)

‍Cowbells and church bells mingle with the sound of engines. While livestock shows are regularly held in the village center, the nearby Nestlé factory produces dairy products for global export. On the outskirts of the village lies accommodation for rejected asylum seekers, managed by an internationally operating company.Local life overlaps with global entanglements.

This is a film about Konolfingen — an attempt at orientation, guided by encounters with residents, observations of the landscape, and hand-drawn maps.

🧆🍉 HABIBI SAMI(by Lesley Kennel, CH 2025, 28 min)

Sami has successfully integrated into Swiss society with his restaurant “Pittaria” and experiences a sense of belonging that he lacked in Israel as part of the Palestinian minority.

Yet, he remains marked by a longing for his homeland and faces an inner conflict. The film tells the story of Sami’s journey through two homelands — and ultimately, towards himself.

🥽 Load (by Simi, CH 2025,11 min)

In search of stories with a happy ending, we meet an exhausted princess, a well-provided-for goat mother, a rebellious witch, and an old woman beating the dust out of bed linen—figures who carry, live, and question care work.

Between everyday life and utopia, exhaustion and dignity, they tell of the burden and the beauty of invisible care labor.

Until the trad wife lifestyle flickers on the screen and the rumble of the washing machine makes the soup boil over.

A not-so-traditional fairy tale about one central question: What is this work truly worth to us?
